The first " end to end " trip was made in 1882, by 2 policemen from Leeds, on penny-farthings. The 900 miles took 14 days.

In July 1886, 19 year old G.P.Mills, rode his 52 inch wheeled penny-farthing end to end in 5 days, 1 hour and 45 minutes, a record that still stands today for a penny-farthing. 180 miles/day on some pretty awful B roads.

In 2001 Gethin Butler rode end to end in a record 1 day, 20 hours and 19 seconds. He also continued to ride relays to Thurso to break the 1000 mile record, setting a new time of 2 days, 7 hours and 53 minutes, 7 seconds.

On September 26, 2001, 32 year old Lynee Taylor set out from Lands End to break the womens solo record, which she did, in 2 days, 5 hours 48 minutes and 21 seconds.
